چکیده
Introduction The eosinophilic syndromes seen in cats and dogs are the result of uncontrolled tissue damage following insults by antigens such as parasites, allergens, infectious agents (fungi, bacteria and viruses) or drugs. The functions of the eosinophil are to destroy parasites and remove foreign material by phagocytosis or extracellular degranulation by releasing various enzymes and toxins (Table 1). The eosinophils are produced in the bone marrow as precursor cells that mature in the spleen, lymph nodes, or thymus. They have a half-life of about 30 minutes in circulation and are selectively attracted to the site of infl ammation, where they have a half-life of about 12 days.

متن کاملDNA photoprotection conveyed by sunscreen.
INTRODUCTION Skin photoaging is the consequence of solar UV exposure, and DNA damage is an important part of this process. The objective of the current work was to demonstrate that in vitro skin models can be utilized to confirm that DNA damage protection is provided by sunscreens. METHODS Skin equivalents were exposed to full-spectrum UV light administered with a standard research solar simu...
متن کاملUVA1 genotoxicity is mediated not by oxidative damage but by cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers in normal mouse skin.
UVA1 induces the formation of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosines (8-OH-dGs) and cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) in the cellular genome. However, the relative contribution of each type of damage to the in vivo genotoxicity of UVA1 has not been clarified. We irradiated living mouse skin with 364-nm UVA1 laser light and analyzed the DNA damage formation and mutation induction in the epidermis and d...
